Emotional Quotient

EQ in a nutshell is how much you understand yourself and others feelings. Generally people with high EQ's are found to be successful in life thus they are more increasingly being used by companies to find employees. EQ is not only how much you understand emotions but how emotionally stable you are. People with a high EQ generally are very emotional but have the ability to control and mantain these emotions. They are also very good at reading other people emotions generally and often very empathetic operating off of this said empathy.

Interesting Chemical Reactions Part I

The following includes some of the interesting reactions and uses of individual Elements on the periodic table:
Potassium:  Potassium metal induced to water reacts violently releasing Hydrogen gas which burns with a vibrant lilac flame.
Magnesium: Once it begins burning its almost impossible for Magnesium to be put reacting with the Oxygen and Nitrogen in the air...forming Magnesium Nitrate.
Sodium is highly reactive to many things. One of the more famous uses is the usage of pure Sodium with water in James Bond.
Promethium: super batteries of which the ratio can be up to 1 million normal batteries to a promethium battery.
Ferromagneticism: When put in a magnetic field ferromagnetic elements become permanent magnets even after they have been taken from the field.
Ferromagnetic Elements include: Iron, Cobalt, Nickel and Gadolinium.
Plutonium is highly poisonous if ingested or inhaled but to dispel claims to it several much more deadly natural toxins do exist.
Fluoride will react chemically with all the other elements except Helium & Neon.
Neon is chemically one of the most stable of elements.
Argon with Hydrogen Fluoride in solid, frozen argon is argon fluorohydride. However it decomposes rapidly once created.
Silver dissolves in sulfuric and nitric acids. The metal is slowly attacked by sulfur compounds in the air that form black silver sulfide hence why silver blackens.

Colour Psychology Doesn't Work

Color psychology has long since stated that a persons favorite color determines certain personality traits in a person. Color psychology is actually very inaccurate being mostly considered right due to the vague nature of the statements and the subconscious want of the viewer for belief in them. When given an analysis of a different color than is their favorite...it could even be their least favorite...and told that it is their favorite a person generally finds it the same accuracy. Let us take Frank for example. His favorite color is white. A common trait of people with the favorite color of white...in fact one of the main ones is loneliness. "You have a part of you that is very lonely." reads Frank about people who like the color white. Who doesn't? Its a part of human natural to feel lonely. Almost everyone does. Lets say I had given Frank fifteen statements about the color green, told him it was white and had him read over and mark the ones that where wrong. According to tests i have done Frank would rate the statements as being at least 14 or 15 accurate if it was green and he would also rate the statements 14 or 15 accurate if it was white. Thus color psychology whilst maybe having a fraction albeit a small fraction of truth shouldn't be relied on for accuracy. However for use as training to become a psychic con artist I recommend using it as a valuable resource in your search and end this article with the statement that appearing psychic or as if you know a persons life and personality is actually remarkably simple once you boil it down to a few basic techniques. After this said person...lets use our example Frank may drop his guard around you and reveal more if he thinks you already know.

Cold Readings

For all the budding con artistes out there this article goes out for you. "Cold reading is a series of techniques used by mentalists, psychics, fortune-tellers, mediums and illusionists to determine or express details about another person, often in order to convince them that the reader knows much more about a subject than they actually do." is the first sentence on the Wikipedia article titled cold reading. Here are some cold reading techniques:

Shotgun Statement: "I'm sensing your card its a diamond, a heart...no its a spade." Using Franks' reaction a psychic can usually determine that it was a spade as Frank reacted differently on spade. Frank is now amazed as he had not believed in psychics before but yet you had guessed his card so you must be psychic.

Rainbow Ruse: "You are generally a good person but when someone angers you you retaliate." Frank is stunned by the psychic Rowena's statement. He is unable to believe that she could know something like that about him. Rainbow Ruses are saying an obvious statement that covers both sides of a matter and is vague. If you look at fortune cookies the technique is often used there. Although this technique combines with the trivia statement technique in which you say something vague it is a more complex version covering the entire spectrum of the rainbow so to speak.

Vanishing Negatives: "Frank you don't have an interesting job do you?" This statement can be answered either way and the psychic can be thought right. "I do actually. Wow. I'm an FBI agent."
or Frank could be undercover and answer. "Thats right. I don't. I sell shoes." By the rest of the audience the psychic could be considered right either way.

Science & humor

Socrates tended to be of the disposition that humor was the art of being superior to another person. Mark Twain thought humor was laughing at miserable things. People spend much of their daily lives laughing and joking. Apes also have been found to laugh and find things funny but do not make jokes. Gorillas and Chimps have laughed at accidental puns. Rats chirp ultrasonically when tickled. Humans are the only ones who purposely make jokes which might be because of our abilities to anticipate and think ahead into the future. Much of culture relies on humor. Its generally psychologically a dealing mechanism on both sides. Psychology states that comedians generally use it because they need it to deal and also so they don't have to be as open with people and can push them out. However right psychology may be humor is more about the relationship with someone than how funny in general the joke is. Frank is Larry's best friend. He makes a joke. Larry and Frank are both in hysterics. Frank decides to use the same joke at the gas station whilst waiting for his gas. The gas station man finds it very cheesy. What is humor? There are three leading theories. One as previously stated is the oldest and is an abrupt feeling of superiority over people, another is the release of built up energy and the last is that humor is simply something unexpected.Yet there is no conclusive answer about this. The most brilliant thing about humor is that scientists have no idea why we do it. They've been puzzling over it for decades following theories such as that different races genetically enjoy different types of humor which has virtually no basis.
So with all out scientific advancements and after all this mucking about and trying to solve the conundrums related u we still have no idea why people laugh or find things humorous. Thus concludes this article

Spatial Recognition

For those who don't know what spatial recognition is please look it up and get off my blog. Otherwise read on. Spatial recognition skills are crucial in not only memory palace but also and in basic memory of a room and or a person in the past. Lets say Frank is at his friends Larry's house. Frank has recently been practicing basic memory palaces for a year every morning for 20 minutes which obviously directly increase his spatial memory muscles but besides this Frank also enjoys music such as Mozart or rock with complex guitar and drums. He spends much of his time listening to this music and is considered a rocker. He has even gone to the extent of purchasing a guitar and a grand piano both of which he enjoys practicing with in his spare time. Not only does listening to music increase his spatial recognition and other cognitive abilities in general but so also does knowing how to play instruments and also knowing musical theory add to that. Thus rock bands and people who listen to Rock should experience an intellect boost.
Now let us say that in the car on his way to Larry's house Frank was rocking out to Queen. Studies have shown that if a person listens to music before an IQ test there results are increased especially the dramatic increase in the spatial recognition class.
Larry has lost his Lil Wayne CD. Frank accesses his spatial memory and remembers seeing a lil wayne CD a month ago under the couch whilst looking for the remote. Larry looks under the couch and finds his CD. Frank is silently apalled by Larry's taste in music and turns away.

Overpriced but brilliant computer technology

Using a combination of video game utilities, programming and a computer that displays advanced holographic projections one could create a really cool computer lab and workspace that could have holographic touch screen capabilities or if you wanted to get really fancy 3d holographic touch screens.
You would also need a scanner to scan objects and bring them up on the holographic projection. With the software to support it and a kinect sensor holographic 3d projections may be one day manufactured on a wide scale.
In fact windows (being clearly more brilliant than apple) has already released a prototype version using a kinect sensor to detect hand movement and act as a touch sensor on a 3d scale. Windows is still unfortunately working to make it cost offective and if the project continues it will be available to major corporations and Ivy League schools.

Meyers Briggs Personality Types in a Nutshell

Myers Briggs indication is a psychological indicator to do with how a person views the world and calculates decisions that heavily ties into personality and being one of the most accurate indicators I recommend that you follow the link at the bottom of the page and take it. In most versions there are 16 possible types. There is a lot of confusion as to what Myers Briggs Types are and what they mean. Below is a summary chart useful for explaining this:

Introvert: Turns inward for energy/shy vs. Extrovert: turns outward for energy/social

iNtuition: trust information that makes sense according to logical principals or theories vs. Sensing: trust information from the five sense and hunches.

Thinker: make decisions based upon logical detached wider picture vs. Feeler: When making a decision considers what the people involved want and tries to find harmony by getting that.

Judging: when viewing the world prefers to have matters settled vs. Perceiving: when viewing the world prefers to keep an open mind.

memory palace

Simonides...poet...mnemonic inventor of the memory palace. In the ancient days of Greece there was a great dramatic reading to be held in a hall of stone and many notable people came to see it. Simonides was nervous for this was his greatest poem yet...a poem that would truly stun the audience. As he walked out to perform his poem he was reciting it in his head. The building then collapsed and Simonides was the only survivor. The greeks needed to identify it and Simonides institutionally recalled the places of each guest as he had combined spatial recognition with his poem and each guest represented a word.
The technique of memory palace has been around since then and was a part of the Greek teachings of rhetoric.  It is a way to take a place and mentally walk through said place leaving images and symbols that represent a word at each loci or notable landmarks of this mental place. Let us for example take your local mall and imagine yourself at the entrance. "To be or not to be that is the question..."
Then imagine yourself there and see two bee's flying around. Imagine what the bees look like, sound like or even feel like if your where to touch them. Now watch the bees and imagine a guy with a machette coming around the corner and killing them. "to be or not to be." Since the guy with a machette isn't the focus he doesn't have to be remembered with such detail as the two bees.
Now walk a little way in to the next landmark. It may only be a foot or two in. It could just be the place just inside the doors... in fact it probably should be. Imagine a band playing called the question. There are question marks everywhere....on their guitars, on the backdrop behind them...Imagine the sound of their music...the smell of sweat and alcohol. The weird hair that sticks up on the lead singer. Now imagine your confusion. You turn to the convenient bypasser and ask "who are these people?"
The by passer turns to you and says dramatically. "That is...the question."
The more details in each word the better the more solid a memory it becomes. A good memory palace should be good enough so that although a few details are forgotten the overall structure is never forgotten.  This can be done in any place you know well enough to walk through mentally. Its the most efficient way to convert short term memory to long term which is one of the reasons its so useful.
